European Consortium for Organic Animal Breeding (ECO-AB)

The European Consortium for Organic Animal Breeding (ECO-AB) was founded in July 2007.

The aims of the group are to:

  • Provide a platform for discussion, knowledge exchange and experience in all issues relating to animal breeding in organic animal farming systems
  • Initiate and support organic animal breeding programmes
  • Develop scientific concepts for organic animal breeding
  • Provide independent, competent expertise for the development of credible and practical standards for animal breeding in organic systems

Who are we?

We are a group of European research scientists and practitioners that are involved, or interested in breeding issues relating to the principles of organic animal farming. We have experience of animal breeding in all farmed livestock species and benefit from sharing these among ourselves and with others.
